About the Speakers:
Ryan Johnson, JD
Ryan Johnson is a nationally-recognized lawyer for healthcare innovation. Johnson helps his clients develop and launch innovative business models designed to improve healthcare quality, accessibility, and affordability. He serves as outside general counsel for digital health companies and healthcare providers who are transforming healthcare through innovation and cutting-edge science and technology. Johnson has considerable experience in structuring and negotiating healthcare transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and financings, and advising clients on a variety of regulatory matters.
Marguerite J. Ahmann
Marguerite J. Ahmann assists healthcare clients with regulatory compliance and transactional matters. Ahmann’s practice focuses on medical staff and licensure issues, HIPAA, and Medicare and Medicaid enrollment and reimbursement. Her clients include hospitals, clinics, life science companies, home care providers and licensed health care professionals. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Ahmann developed her foundation in health law by earning a joint degree in law and public health, clerking for the legal and compliance departments of a major hospital system and serving as a research assistant for a public health law and policy nonprofit organization. Before law school, Ahmann worked in the financial services industry.
Danielle Lawlor, MST, CPA
Danielle Lawlor is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bentley University with a Master of Science in Taxation. Danielle joined the firm in 2015 after twenty years in public accounting and private industry. Danielle provides accounting, tax preparation, and financial reporting services for corporations, partnerships, and individuals across a wide variety of industries. Danielle is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Joshua A. Teplitzky, JD, C.P.A, LLM, MBA Joshua A. Teplitzky is a graduate of Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In addition, he graduated with a joint JD-MBA degree from Emory University School of Business and Emory University School of Law. He holds his Masters Degree in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. Joshua is responsible for the firm’s tax service and medical management group. Mr. Teplitzky joined the firm in 1990 after practicing law in the tax department of the Connecticut law firm of Wiggin & Dana. Mr. Teplitzky lectures on tax planning and related topics to both business and professional organizations including the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Connecticut State of Society CPA’s Tax Forum, various Medical Residency Programs, as well as leading in-house seminars for the professional staff of Teplitzky & Company. In addition, he is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Connecticut Society of CPA’s, Connecticut Bar Association and is a board member and past president of the National CPA Health Care Advisors Association and served on the Board of Directors for Start Community Bank. Joshua Teplitzky has served as Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the New Haven Jewish Home for the Aged, Treasurer of the Fellowship House, Inc., Treasurer of Ezra Academy and is a past President of the Woodbridge Country Club. Mr. Teplitzky was selected for the New Haven Business Forty Under 40, in recognition of professional achievement and community involvement.
Ron Chorzewski, MBA, PT
With 28 years in the healthcare field, Ron Chorzewski has recently started to work as the CEO for Concord Orthopaedics in Concord, NH. Concord Orthopaedics has 25 physicians, 13 physician extenders, four locations, two ASC’s, and an MRI. Starting his career as a physical therapist, Chorzewski has worked in both rehabilitation and orthopedic management. A member of the AAOE since 2009, Chorzewski has served on numerous councils and is presently a board member. When not working, Chorzewski enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Maria and their three children Jaclyn, Kristen, and Kyle.
Joseph Mathews, PT, DPT
Joseph Mathews has served as the Administrator at Advanced Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (AOSM) in Northwest Houston, since 2010. Joseph is a practicing physical therapist who not only serves the needs of his patients, but also serves his employees as the Director of Physical Therapy at AOSM. Joseph has been a member of the Advocacy Council since 2011 and has served on the Planning Committee for the 2015-2018 AAOE Annual Conferences. He is an active member of the T-Bones group and has even helped to develop their current website.
Barbara Sack, MHSA, CMPE
Barbara Sack is Executive Director for Midwest Orthopaedics, P.A., a practice over 50 years old in suburban Kansas City. She has been with the practice since January of 2004, having previously worked in geriatric primary care in a hospital-owned practice and an inter-disciplinary, multi-specialty academic medical center program. Sack has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, both from the University of Kansas, and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) certified with the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She has worked in the healthcare field for over 25 years. She has been a member of the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) since 2005, and served as President in 2012 – 2013. In addition, she has also served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Medical Manager’s Association and as President of Midwest AAOE.
William Sullivan, MBA
William Sullivan, MBA, is Executive Director of Orthopaedics Northeast PC, an multi-disciplinary practice that includes Rheumatology, since 2016. Prior to ONE, Sullivan co-owned a physical therapy practice that had operations across several states in New England.
Julie Veronick, CMPE, CPC
Julie Veronick, CMPE, CPC, has been the Practice Administrator at Tower Orthopedic and Joint Replacement for the past 5 years with a cumulative 22 years’ experience in orthopedics and 38 years of experience overall in the healthcare field in a variety of positions.
