• Michael Gagnon from AOC welcomes participants to the course

The goal of AAOE & AOC’s National On-Demand Digital Curriculum is to provide the critical information and skills needed for residents, fellows, and new faculty to be better prepared for job search and the business of orthopaedics.  With over 30 presentations delivered by true national subject matter experts spanning academic practice, private practice, healthcare law, and healthcare leadership development firms, the 25-45 minute video modules provide a permanent source of tools to strengthen context that translates into better prepared, more confident hires that hit the ground running. This content also alleviates the need for academic training programs to provide this content and this can also be used to satisfy ACGME requirements.

This multi-part curriculum will have a new module launching monthly from November 2020 through June 2021. Click on the links below to view the videos within each module currently available.

    Meet Our Speaker

    Michael R. Gagnon, MBA

After earning his MBA in 1992, Michael spent his entire 27 year career in academic healthcare administration working for Harvard and Duke.  He recently retired as Chief Administrative Officer of Duke Orthopaedics to devote all of his time to the “Academic Orthopaedic Consortium,” a company he founded in 2005 to organize academic orthopaedic departments and their leadership teams for the purpose of providing best practice in business and leadership.  Today the AOC has 145+ University based musculoskeletal enterprises participating with 3,000+ individual members including Chairs, Vice Chairs, Division Chiefs, Chief Administrative Officers, Clinical Operations Directors, Hospital Service Line Directors, Residents, Fellows, and Program Coordinators. The AOC is #1 rated organization by 97% of academic administrators. In November 2020 Michael founded JobsInOrtho at the request of Residents and fellows to aggregate all orthopaedic surgeon jobs across the US to simplify the process of identifying and applying for great orthopaedic jobs. Only 16 days after its launch, it became the largest orthopaedic job board in the US.
